En Pointe’s Social Responsibility & Sustainability Principles

It’s our passion to work with clients to help them express who they are through events. We think it’s our duty to suggest thoughtful ways to have a positive social impact and minimise waste in the process.

En Pointe Events is committed to reducing its impact on the natural environment by inspiring our staff, suppliers, clients and community to think, talk and act on sustainability issues. We are proud to celebrate diversity within the workplace, and to contribute to the local community through hundreds of hours of donated service to NFPs including Fareshare, Starlight and the University of Melbourne.

OUR COMMITMENTS

We aim to reduce our environmental impact, add value to the local economy and engage with the industry and wider community to think, talk and act on sustainability initiatives. Considerations include event locations, event design and activities, suppliers engaged, food services, energy consumption, transportation and waste generation.

FOOD & DRINKS – Seasonal & locally sourced. Celebrate a zero waste food philosophy.  Engage Social enterprises where possible. Use water refill stations instead of bottled water.  No plastic straws.

EVENT DESIGN – Hire of equipment that isn’t single use. Utilise potted plants for styling that keeps on giving.  Avoid the use of oasis in floral. Use digital screens and technology to communicate to guests and minimise print and single use signage. Encourage community activities that engage guests in positive ways – for example, Biofilta veggie patches, education around sustainably sourced food, pedal energy DIY smoothies, macramé from old clothing etc. Considerate gifts that support local initiatives and sustainability practices.

TRANSPORT  – Consider event locations and public transport options, onsite bike racks and the practice of online events.

WASTE – avoid single use products. Use non-toxic, biodegradable cleaning agents. Supply reusable, recyclable and biodegradable packaging.  Introduce incentives to encourage sustainable guest behaviour. Ensure suitable recycling bins and streams onsite. Reduce food waste – through distribution via food charities, providing onsite compost bins and strategic ordering. Recycle corflute signage through Evans & Evans. Recycle coffee grounds through Reground. Work with Bloom Rescue to ensure cut flowers are donated post event.

SUPPLIERS – Encourage, engage and support our local suppliers in sustainability initiatives and best practice.

COMMUNICATE & EVALUATE – offer attendees the opportunity to provide feedback electronically. Communicate the initiatives that are taking place at your events. Measure the success of initiatives. Continually learn, improve and adjust.
