Our War on Waste

TIME'S UP ON UNNECESSARY WASTE

It’s our passion to work with clients to help them express who they are through events. We think it’s our duty to suggest thoughtful ways to have a positive social impact and minimise waste in the process.

Like our client, The University of Melbourne,
‘we aim to engage and empower our staff, suppliers, clients and the community to think, talk and act on sustainability issues’.

Over the past year, we are proud to have worked on the following events for not for profits and corporate sustainability & wellness initiatives.

As the appointed event design partner for the Melbourne Food & Wine Festival 2018 hub, En Pointe chose to collaborate with Fiona Lynch on the transformation of Hotel Lindrum, working together to find sustainable solutions that saw the project celebrated in Vogue Living.

Key design decisions included :
Exploring the transformative effect of fabric and tactile surfaces – repurposing the existing furniture in the hotel. The material selected,
Tyvek, is typically used in the printing and building industry and is recyclable. It also helped give everyday objects a sculptural quality and fragile, temporary character.

The use of living plants to
forest the hotel – awakening and playing on all senses - and ensuring the plants' life far longer than the project.

Use of projection to display daily updates and key information to guests.
En Pointe Events are delighted to have supported food rescue charity, OzHarvest with a number of activations and events. 2017 saw the launch of their new Melbourne kitchen facilities and provision of 2.5 million meals in Victoria.

The Establishment Group created a menu celebrating zero waste with highlight items including the ‘ice cream sandwich' – yogurt whey ice cream, cucumber seed icecream, burnt leek top biscuit & dill stalk powder by the Press Club and ‘Lamb
stifatho’ - left over roasted lamb shoulder, rescued shallots and pumpkin seed kritharaki by Hellenic Republic.

The menu was innovative, delicious and thoughtful – something we’d love to see more of and can help you execute at your next office or brand event.
An innovative pilot project, Mirvac's 'House with No Bills' Study is part of an industry-first research project that aims to identify how to deliver attainable, energy-efficient homes to the broader community.

The Open Day event saw Biofilta Foodwall Veggie Garden workshops, coffee by social enterprise Co-ground, discovery sessions on Evergen's solar power and battery technology, Smeg cooking demos, pedal energy with smoothies by Bike n Blend, no plastic, a water station for refilling water bottles, all signage recycled and arts & crafts insect homes for the kids.
What about Mirvac's Yarra's Edge take on a marathon ... – allowing you a month to achieve the 44 kilometres however you wish!

Culminating with a Saturday morning celebration supporting breast cancer charity, ThinkPink, we loved dreaming up the ideas, design and activities for this feel-good event.  A DIY muesli bar to suit all dietaries, massages and BlendCo energy balls were up for the taking, as well as feel good tunes, stretching classes and giveaways.

Proof events can be good for the mind and body.
We are proud to partner with suppliers who also prioritise sustainability and a minimal waste ethos. We will continue to do all we can to think strategically about what we can do to reduce waste around events, be an eco-warrior in the industry and support social enterprises and inspired products & services that are aligned to our mission.

We are so pleased that there are so many businesses and kindred spirits working in this space - here are just a couple that inspire us.
